Good words

When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth. – George Bernard Shaw

Which reminds of George Carlin - so much truth in his humor. I was sad to hear of his passing. Makes me want to get out the old "records" and listen to his truth.

On Tuesday, I heard a rebroadcast of a Terry Gross interview (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4968570)
with Carlin from a few years ago. I was so glad I caught it. He told about how his mother taught him to love language, and how he quit school in the 9th grade to become a comedian. But the best part of the interview was hearing him say that he hoped he wouldn't lose his ability to talk (or at least type!) with advancing age. We'll miss him, but he got his wish.
